David Millen, LMFT

As a therapist, my work is focused on supporting individuals, couples and families to navigate their relational dynamics through the exploration of their own complex personalities and how it manifests in their relationships.

I specialize in high sensitivity, giftedness, 2E and autism. You are most likely a deep thinker, and intuitive feeler and you take in alot of information as a keen observer. You may notice small social nuances and often feel like you are good at many things which contributes to struggling to find an identity.

My Approach

My therapeutic style is integrative and relational. I draw from multiple modalities including psychodynamic, humanistic, gestalt and mindfulness approaches. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the catalyst for change and I hope to build a relationship of trust and collaboration with each person. I am direct, open and clear in my approach.

I believe that, at its heart, the therapeutic endeavor is a collaborative one, created in tandem by therapist and client. I also believe that the feelings and associations that can be evoked in this relationship can provide a powerful opportunity for learning, especially regarding those interpersonal patterns of relating that most deeply influence your life and experience of yourself and others.

I strive to empower clients and help them re connect with their true self.

My Background

I received my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. My experience includes working with children, transition age youth, and adults in school settings, community mental health and private practice.

I am originally from New York City and draw from my experiences in the arts and music to inform my philosophy towards life. Outside of my psychotherapy practice, I am a musician and outdoors enthusiast. I am also a Boston terrier dad.
